As cited from Channel News Asia (CNA), a blackout hits parts of Singapore on Tuesday morning (18/09) since the electricity supplies were suddenly cut.
According to a Facebook post by SP Group, a leading energy utility provider in Singapore, the electricity supply to some areas in Singapore was disrupted at 1.29am, the Strait Times has reported. Not only that, but the post also included the news regarding SP investigation on the cause of the incident. Based on the assessment the Singapore’s affected areas include Eunos, Bedok, Ang Mo Kio, Sembawang, Tanjong Rhu, and West Coast.
Fortunately, power has returned in some Singaporean areas before had been fully restored at 2.15am.
Yet, although the electricity restoration has been settled, the power outages caught Speaker of Parliament, MP Tan Chuan-Jin’s attention as he wrote in a Facebook post, saying the power outages seemed to be “quite a serious and extensive” incident. In the post, he also notified Singaporeans, "The hotlines are clogged up with calls hence yours not being able to get through. Stay calm. The agencies are doing what they can", cited from the Strait Times.
Another Facebook post by SP Group was then published, the company apologized and promised to revisit the cause of the incident.
