Over six million people visited Lion City in the first four months of 2018, according to the Singapore Tourism Board's data. With a total of 6.2 million foreign visitors, the biggest contribution came from Mainland China with 1.223.508 visitors while Indonesia came in the second with 982.293 visitors.
The most common mode of transportation used by the visitors is plane. Around 4.753.983, equal to 77 per cent of all visitors during that period arrived through the airport. Both land and sea transportations contributed 11 per cent each.
In 2017, a total of 17.4 million people visited Singapore, while Malaysia received 25.9 million and Indonesia received 14 million arrivals in 2017.
China contributed most with the record 4.5 billion trips for 2017. Leisure travel drives Chinese outbound travel demand, with major peaks observed around summer school holidays and smaller peaks during major festivals such as Spring Festival and October National Day Holiday.
