In addition to the World Cup 2018 final results that made the Croatia fans in Malaysia to be sad, there is another thing in World Cup 2018 that create all Malaysia furious: Nazifuddin Najib – son of former Prime Minister of Malaysia stole the spotlight in the Malaysia Internet after he shared photo of himself catching World Cup in Moscow (Jul 15).
Before the match kicked off, he posted a photo of himself at the Luzhniki Stadium on Facebook, with the caption: “Yeah! Finals!!! Croatia against France, which is your choice?”.
The posts drew criticism from netizens, who noted that Mr Nazifuddin's jet-setting lifestyle comes amid purported struggles by his father to post bail after he was charged for his alleged involvement in the 1MDB scandal.
Mr Nazifuddin’s latest posts came about a week after he criticised the authorities of freezing the bank accounts of his older sister Puteri Norlisa, who has cancer, leaving her with difficulties to pay for her chemotherapy treatment.
Social media users are now questioning whether the Najib clan truly had no money because of the frozen accounts and needing donations.
Earlier this month, a day after his father was charged in court with three counts of criminal breach of trust and misusing his position in relation to the RM42 million (S$14 million) SRC International scandal, Nazifuddin came under heavy fire for being spotted in Taiwan wining and dining with Taiwanese actress Celia Chang.
Taiwanese portal Apple Daily said the pair was seen dining at a steakhouse and having a massage at a top luxury shopping district near Taipei 101. At the time, funds were being raised to pay half of Najib’s the RM1 million bail because the authorities had frozen the former leader’s bank accounts and those belonging to his children.
After the criticism, the Taiwanese actress Celia Chang reportedly said she was not in a romantic relationship with Nazifuddin and had paid the bills for the both of them during their meeting.
Nazifuddin Najib is the son of Najib Razak and his first wife (before Rosmah Mansor) Tengku Puteri Zainah Tengku Eskandar. Nazif is the chairman, director, and founder of numerous local and international corporations. He is currently the Owner and Corporate Advisor to public listed companies such as AppAsia Bhd and Sersol Bhd.
