Indonesian Tourism Minister Arief Yahya declared Soekarno-Hatta International Airport’s Terminal 3 a digital airport destination, the first one in Indonesia, as reported Kompas.com.
“Not just the main gateway for tourists’ entry, this airport also has a terminal that is the first digital airport destination,” said Arief at the launch of #JelajahIndonesiaLebihDekat campaign on Friday, Oct. 24 at Terminal 3.
Arief went on to say that one of the most essential requirements in transforming an airport into a digital destination is that it has to be appealing on camera.
“The most potent weapon today is a digital weapon with good visuals,” he was quoted as saying.
As an international airport with daily traffic of 220,000 passengers, this place is designed to be equipped with facilities such as a capsule hotel and instagrammable attractions, said Muhammad Awaluddin, president director of PT Angkasa Pura II.
He also addressed the issue regarding app-based transportation services.
“[Because of] high demand from passengers, the airport is now [app-based transportation] friendly. But we guarantee that the service providers are following government regulations,” he said.
