Indonesia Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Minister Susi Pudjiastuti appeared in Anne Avantie's fashion show "Badai Pasti Berlalu" at Jakarta Fashion Week (JFW) 2019. Previously, she had published her plan to show in Jakarta Fashion Week via a short video posted on her official Instagram account @susipudjiastuti115.
The video uploaded with the caption, “For 10 fishing boats in Palu and Donggala, I will walk on the catwalk in Jakarta Fashion Week session of Anne Avantie tonight at 8:30 p.m. in Senayan City.” The same video was first uploaded by designer Anne Avantie five and she expressed her gratitude to Susi Pudjiastuti for the participation.
According to kompas.com, the minister took part wearing tenun (woven fabric) attire designed by Anne, sunglasses and thigh-high boots. Accompanied by "Indonesia Jaya", sung by Lea Simanjuntak, Susi “rocked” the runway, making the audience members cheer. At the end of the show, Susi and Anne walked together down the runway, receiving flowers from the members of the audience.
"Badai Pasti Berlalu" fashion show was a form of the designer’s empathy for the victims of the natural disasters that struck Palu, Donggala as well as Lombok in West Nusa Tenggara.
“I am currently doing fundraising for Palu and Donggala. If Anne wanted to give 10 [fishing] boats, I would walk [the runway],” said Susi when receiving the aid symbolically as quoted by kompas.com.
Anne enthusiastically shared the fitting process, saying that Susi had tried a lot of boots and around 287 sunglasses.
“The fitting (process) was so fun,” she said as quoted by thejakartapost.com. Anne added, ”Usually, top models appear (with the designer) at the closing. (Susi) was above the top (models)”.
