Sunday, (16/7), maybe it’s the best time and thrilling for France. With 4-2 final victory against Croatia, France finally became World Cup winner for the second time since 1998. After all, this match wasn’t easy to predict because so many major teams lost and left Croatia as the rising star, even it’s only matter of time when France won the match. Even today, the euphoria of the match still fell real and become the talk of the town.
When World Cup has so many unpredictable scenes, in contrary for this year, Indonesia needs to face the same situation ahead Presidential election next year. This moment would be celebrated by around 260 million population in the nation.
With not too many influential figures in the nation, we could expect the similar vibe from five years ago. Based on some research, only two candidate has a strong vote from people which is totally the same in Presidential Election in 2014.
Joko Widodo or Indonesia’s President at this period will be nominated again as the next president’s candidate for next year election. On the other hand, Gerindra Party Chairman Prabowo Subianto still being the strong opponent against Jokowi, based many research.
Partai Demokrasi Indonesia Perjuangan (PDIP), the winner of a legislative election in 2014, and also Jokowi’s party hold almost 20% share in Indonesia parliament. The minimum threshold for party or coalition to nominate Indonesia’s presidential candidate is more than 20% share in legislative.
Otherwise, this situation force opposition party need to form a coalition to nominate a presidential candidate. So far, Gerindra Party has already declared that Prabowo Subianto will move forward against Jokowi as president’s candidate.
As quoted by Kompas.com (July 14), Prabowo, has already met with President of Partai Keadilan Sejahtera (PKS) Sohibul Iman, and Chairman of Honorary Committee of Partai Amanat Nasional (PAN) Amien Rais.
This political gathering also confirms the effort to form a coalition to face a presidential election next year. But still, this meeting leaving a question about who is the candidate to fill position next to Prabowo as vice president candidate.
Vice versa, PDIP as a party that support Jokowi is still playing secretive about who’s gonna be the second person to work together with Jokowi in next election. Some parties that already committed to supporting PDIP such as Golkar, Partai Nasional Demokrat, Partai Persatuan Pembangunan, Hanura, Perindo, Partai Solidaritas Nasional, and Partai Kebangkitan Bangsa also offer some candidates hoping he or she will be the perfect person to accompany Jokowi.
Choosing the main person as a president candidate is really important to win this match, but finding the second person also play significantly important to fill the gap from the main candidate.
Even the strong and influential candidate in this match is not refreshing or surprising anymore, but you can still expect some twist from the political actors in order to win the presidential election. Stay tuned for this riddle!
